FACULTY OF FINE ARTS / VISUAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN

History

In the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Department of Visual Communication and Design, the Council of Ministers of the Official Gazette dated 26.03.2008 and numbered 2008/13467 was published.


Qualification Awarded

Students who successfully complete all courses in the program (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS) and who have at least a 2.0 GPA out of 4.00 are awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communication and Design.

Specific Admission Requirements

In our country, it is necessary to succeed in YGS Higher Education Entrance exam for entrance to universities. Students must have at least a base score. Introduction to the Department of Painting The undergraduate program is not only based on the score obtained from this examination. 1 - High school or equivalent school diploma, 2 - ÖSYM'ya YGS Exam result certificate.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of prior learning in higher education institutions is still at an early stage. Therefore, the recognition of prior learning in all programs of Nevşehir University has not been fully initiated. However, an exemption exam is held at the beginning of each academic semester for courses such as Computer and English which are included in the training plans of the programs. Students who think that these courses provide the expected learning outcomes have the right to take the exams. The students who pass the exam are exempted from the related course.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

in order to obtain a bachelor's degree in Visual Communication and Design Department, students must successfully complete all the compulsory and elective courses (total 240 ECTS) and obtain a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.


Profile of The Programme

epartment of Visual Communication and Design; As a result of the education, which is based on the principles of creativity, aesthetics, use of modern technology and functional production principles, it is aimed that the students will be a strong artist, designer and researcher in their fields, gain scientific thinking and production habits. Our department has a productive, sharing art understanding that protects the cultural identity in the universal world order while educating individuals who have the ability to create innovative, strong infrastructure and free with strong history consciousness. In this direction, our aim is to train artists and designer candidates who can investigate, question, discuss, criticize and contribute to the country and world culture.


Key Learning Outcomes of the Programme

PO-1 Students are technically and theoretically dominant in the historical development of Visual Communication Design.
PO-2 Students will be able to describe the concepts, thoughts, cases and problems related to the field and perceive them as multi-dimensional.
PO-3 Students will be able to use terminology, problem solving skills, technical and method knowledge to evaluate art and design on a common basis.
PO-4 Students has the technological and theoretical knowledge, equipment and aesthetic awareness about the field.
PO-5 Students use the accumulation gained from different branches of art and design in an interdisciplinary approach.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduates of the Faculty of Fine Arts Department of Visual Communication and Design will have the qualifications to be able to work in all areas of the media sector at the end of their four-year education. Therefore, they have opportunities for employment in both public and private sectors in media such as advertising, graphic design, cinema, television. In addition, they may complete their Master and Doctoral trainings and become academicians.


Access to Further Studies

Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study in postgraduate programs provided that they have a valid grade in ALES and have sufficient knowledge of English.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Each student must enroll in the courses at the beginning of the semester and must attend at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the courses in order to be able to take the final exam. Students are subjected to at least 1 midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam (mid-term exam grade, homework, laboratory exam, quiz etc. scores obtained from measurement tools can be taken into consideration) contribution is 40%, the final exam contribution is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students are required to take at least 45 points from the final exam. Students taking one of the (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) letter grades from a course are considered successful. (DC) and (DD) are conditionally successful grades. In order to be successful in a course with a DC or DD grade, the student must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.


Graduation Requirements

In order to complete the program successfully, it is required to pass all the courses available in the program (equivalent to 240 ECTS), to obtain a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 and to complete the thesis successfully.

Facilities

In our department, there are 2 professor, 1 associate professor, 1 lecturer and 2 research assistant to carry out educational activities. In our department there are 1 cinema and photography workshop, 2 theoretical classrooms, 2 three-dimensional design workshops, 4 workshops and 2 computer workshop. The physical infrastructure is designed to be used effectively both in educational and academic studies. Our faculty has a web-based e-library open to our students.
